This lacquer box is for the school of Palekh, the work of artist Tokarev. This was completed in 2001.
The lacquer box is made up of 9 panels, representing the hunt in the Russian countryside. In
using this 9 panel box, the artist depicts the hunter upon a horse and chasing the pray, a deer.
Sizes are 4.5 by 2.5 by 3.5 inches, the top piece is tailored down to the top of the subject box.
Representation from old stories of Russian elite using their skills to bring back the animal.
