This Santa has been hand-carved from one solid piece of linden wood . Linden wood is a very special wood used in Russia for these figures. It is aged for a number of years before being painted. This is what preserves the wood so that it will stay strong and not crack. This Santa and raindeer was carved and completely made by hand in Russia. The quality of the piece is outstanding. The size of this Santa himself is 5.5 inches tall ( 14 cm) and is about 2.5 inches wide ( 6 cm) from side to side. The piece with the reindeer is 6.5 inches wide ( 16.5 cm) and is 8 inches tall ( 20cm). \ The father frost is sitting on the reindeer.
